Le Fort Fracture Classification
Le Fort fractures are a way to categorize facial bone breaks based on where they occur. They are classified into three types: Le Fort I involves a horizontal break above the upper teeth, separating the top jaw from the rest of the face; Le Fort II is a pyramidal fracture that passes through the nose and cheeks, affecting midface stability; and Le Fort III involves a complete separation of the midface from the skull, running through the eye sockets and nasal bones. These classifications help doctors understand the injury's severity and plan appropriate treatment.
