LDDC Act 1984

The London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) Act 1984 established the LDDC as a special authority responsible for regenerating and developing the Docklands area in London. Its goal was to transform depressed docklands into a vibrant commercial, residential, and industrial district. The Act gave the LDDC powers to plan, acquire land, and undertake redevelopment projects without usual local government restrictions. This enabled focused development, attracting investment and modern infrastructure, ultimately revitalizing a neglected part of London into a thriving economic zone.
