Layered materials
Layered materials are substances composed of thin, flat sheets stacked on top of each other, similar to pages in a book. These layers are held together loosely enough to allow them to slide past one another, giving the material unique properties like flexibility, strength, or ease of separation. An example is graphite, used in pencils, where the layers can slide off easily. Such materials are valuable in technology and engineering because their layered structure can be manipulated for various applications, including electronics, coatings, and advanced composites.
