Law of Requisite Variety

The Law of Requisite Variety states that a control system must have at least as much flexibility or complexity as the system it manages to effectively regulate it. In other words, to maintain stability and adapt to changes, the controller needs to match the variability of the system's behavior. If the controlled system exhibits many different states or changes rapidly, the controlling mechanism must also be capable of responding with equal or greater diversity to maintain balance and prevent chaos. This principle highlights the importance of appropriate complexity in effective management and control systems.
