Latina (ethnic identity)

Latina (or Latino) is an ethnic identity that refers to people from Latin America, including countries in Central and South America and parts of the Caribbean. It emphasizes cultural, historical, and linguistic connections rooted in Latin American heritage. Importantly, being Latina is about ethnicity and identity, not race, meaning individuals of diverse racial backgrounds can identify as Latina. The term is often used to celebrate shared cultural experiences, language (primarily Spanish or Portuguese), and history, fostering a sense of community among people from this diverse region.
