Lateral Meniscus

The lateral meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage located in the knee joint on the outer side. It acts as a cushion between the thigh bone (femur) and the shinbone (tibia), helping to distribute weight, absorb shocks, and stabilize the joint during movement. The lateral meniscus is important for knee health and function, especially during activities like walking, running, and jumping. It is connected to surrounding structures in the knee and can sometimes be injured through twisting motions or trauma. Proper functioning of the lateral meniscus is essential for smooth, pain-free knee motion.
