Late Blight
Late blight is a serious disease caused by the fungus-like organism Phytophthora infestans that affects potatoes and tomatoes. It thrives in cool, moist conditions, quickly spreading and causing dark, water-soaked lesions on leaves, stems, and tubers. These lesions turn necrotic, leading to rapid plant decline and crop loss if untreated. The disease spreads through spores in the air and water, making it highly destructive during rainy seasons. Effective management involves resistant varieties, proper spacing, fungicide application, and sanitation to reduce infection risk and protect harvests.
