LATCH scoring system
The LATCH scoring system is a tool used by healthcare providers to assess how effectively a newborn is feeding at the breast or bottle. It evaluates five areas: **Latch (L)**, how well the baby attaches; **Audible swallowing (A)**; **Type of nipple (T)**, whether it's breast or bottle; **Cholding the breast or bottle (C)**; and **Help (H)**, whether extra assistance is needed. Each area is scored from 0 to 2, with higher scores indicating better feeding. The system helps determine if the baby is feeding well and guides support or intervention if needed.
