Latarjet procedure
The Latarjet procedure is a surgical technique used to treat shoulder instability caused by recurrent dislocations, especially when there is significant bone loss. It involves transferring a small piece of bone from the collarbone (known as the coracoid process) along with attached tendons to the front of the shoulder socket (glenoid). This added bone helps rebuild the socket and provides additional stability, preventing the shoulder from slipping out again. The procedure also rewires the transferred bone into place, creating a stronger, more stable shoulder joint, especially beneficial for athletes or active individuals.
