LASSA
LASSA, or Lassa fever, is a viral illness common in parts of West Africa. It spreads mainly through contact with rodent urine or droppings, or through contact with infected person's bodily fluids. Symptoms can include fever, weakness, headaches, and sometimes bleeding or organ damage in severe cases. Most people recover with supportive care, but it can be deadly, especially for pregnant women. Proper hygiene, avoiding rodent contact, and healthcare precautions are key to prevention. Early diagnosis and treatment with antiviral medicines improve the chances of recovery.
