Laronidase

Laronidase is a medication used to treat a rare genetic disorder called Hurler syndrome, which causes buildup of a harmful substance in the body due to missing or malfunctioning enzymes. Laronidase replaces the missing enzyme, helping to break down the excess substance and reduce symptoms like organ damage and developmental issues. It's administered through infusion, usually every week, under medical supervision. This treatment can improve quality of life and slow disease progression, but it doesn't cure the condition. It’s an important option for managing Hurler syndrome and improving patient outcomes.
