Lares Revolt

The Lares Revolt was a Native American uprising in Peru in 1811, driven by local grievances against Spanish colonial authorities. Indigenous communities, facing economic hardship, land issues, and oppressive rule, attempted to resist Spanish control by attacking officials and disrupting colonial administration. Although the revolt was eventually suppressed, it highlighted widespread dissatisfaction among indigenous populations and contributed to the broader movement for independence from Spain in Latin America.
