Laozi (Philosopher)
Laozi, also spelled Lao Tzu, was an ancient Chinese philosopher and the founder of Daoism (Taoism), a major spiritual tradition in China. He is traditionally believed to have lived around the 6th century BCE. Laozi is best known for his work, the "Dao De Jing" (Tao Te Ching), which emphasizes living in harmony with the Dao (Tao), an underlying principle that governs the universe. His teachings promote simplicity, humility, and compassion, advocating for the value of naturalness and spontaneity. Laozi's influence extends beyond philosophy into art, religion, and politics, highlighting the importance of balance and moderation.
