Lanna Kingdom

The Lanna Kingdom was a historical kingdom in northern Thailand that flourished from the 13th to the 18th century. Known as the “Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields,” it was a center of culture, art, and Buddhism, with its own language and traditions. The kingdom was founded by King Mangrai and played a significant role in regional trade and politics. Over time, it came under Burmese influence and was eventually integrated into Thailand. Today, Lanna cultural heritage is celebrated through architecture, festivals, and customs that continue to shape northern Thailand’s identity.
