Langstroth hive

The Langstroth hive is a widely used beekeeping system featuring vertical boxes called "supers" with removable frames. Its design includes small-sized spaces, or "bee spaces," that prevent bees from sealing everything shut, making it easy for beekeepers to inspect and manage the hive without disturbing the bees excessively. The frames hold honeycomb where bees live, store honey, and raise brood (young bees). This modular setup allows for efficient honey harvesting, health monitoring, and hive expansion. Developed by Lorenzo Langstroth in the 19th century, it revolutionized beekeeping by promoting hive health and productivity through accessible, adaptable design.
