Landsat 1

Landsat 1, launched in 1972, was the first satellite in NASA’s Landsat program designed to capture detailed images of Earth's surface. It used sensors to photograph land, water, and forests, helping scientists track changes over time. These images allowed for better understanding of agriculture, urban development, and environmental shifts. As a pioneering Earth Observation satellite, Landsat 1 laid the foundation for decades of remote sensing research, providing valuable data for environmental management, land use planning, and scientific studies worldwide.
