Landmarkism

Landmarkism is a theological belief system within Baptist churches that emphasizes the importance of the local church as the primary expression of Christianity. It teaches that true churches are built upon an unbroken line of faithful congregations dating back to the apostles. Landmarkists argue that only Baptist churches are true churches, as they adhere to key doctrines like believer's baptism and congregational governance. This perspective often leads to a strict view on church authority and identity, distinguishing between what they see as legitimate churches and those they consider offshoots or deviations from true faith.
