Landgrave George I of Hesse-Darmstadt (born 1606, died 1661) was a German nobleman and a member of the House of Hesse. He ruled the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt from 1626 until his death. George I is notable for his efforts to strengthen and modernize his territory in the aftermath of the Thirty Years' War, a devastating conflict that affected much of Europe. He promoted economic recovery, improved administration, and supported the arts and education. His reign helped stabilize Hesse-Darmstadt, making it a significant state in the German territories during a time of turmoil.
