Landform Types

Landform types refer to the natural features of Earth's surface, shaped by geological and environmental processes. Common types include mountains, which are tall and rugged; hills, smaller elevated areas; plains, flat and expansive regions; valleys, low areas between hills or mountains; plateaus, elevated flat surfaces; and basins, low land surrounded by higher land. These features result from processes like erosion, sediment deposition, and tectonic activity. Understanding landforms helps us grasp how Earth's surface evolves and affects climate, ecosystems, and human activities.
