Landfill Sites

A landfill site is a designated area where waste materials are systematically buried and managed. It’s designed to safely contain trash, preventing contamination of the environment and humans. Modern landfills use layers of protective barriers, such as clay and impermeable liners, to prevent leachate (liquid that drains from waste) from seeping into the ground and groundwater. They also include systems to manage gases produced by decomposing waste. Overall, landfills are essential for waste disposal, transforming and containing non-recyclable waste to minimize environmental impact while following safety and environmental regulations.
