Landfill Gas (LFG)

Landfill Gas (LFG) is a natural byproduct of the decomposition of organic waste in landfills. As waste breaks down anaerobically (without oxygen), it produces a mixture of gases, primarily methane and carbon dioxide. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change but can also be captured and used as a renewable energy source. Landfill gas management involves extracting and converting it into electricity, heat, or other forms of energy, reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable waste management practices.
