Lammastide
Lammastide, also known as the Feast of Lammas, is a traditional Christian holiday celebrated on August 1st that marks the beginning of the harvest season, particularly for wheat. Its name comes from “Loaf Mass,” reflecting the custom of offering the first bread made from new grain in thanksgiving. Historically, it was a time for communities to give thanks for the harvest and to prepare for the months ahead. While its religious significance has diminished, Lammastide remains a cultural occasion for harvest festivals, bread baking, and gatherings that honor the Earth's abundance.
