Lakunle

Lakunle is a character from Wole Soyinka’s play "The Lion and the Jewel." He is a young, modernized schoolteacher who represents Western influence and progressive ideas. Lakunle is eager to adopt modern customs, such as paying bride price and rejecting traditional practices, believing them outdated. He often clashes with the traditional, village life represented by other characters, especially the village belle, Sidi.
