Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO)
The Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) is an international body that promotes sustainable management and development of fisheries in Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s largest freshwater lakes. Its members include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. LVFO coordinates efforts to conserve fish populations, prevent overfishing, and ensure that fishing benefits local communities and economies. It also supports research, monitoring, and regulation of fishing activities to maintain the lake’s ecological health and provide food security for millions dependent on its resources.
