Lake Turkana Wind Power Project
The Lake Turkana Wind Power Project in Kenya is Africa's largest wind energy installation, consisting of around 365 turbines generating approximately 310 megawatts of electricity. Located near Lake Turkana, it harnesses strong, consistent winds to produce clean, renewable energy that supplies about 17% of Kenya's electricity needs. The project reduces reliance on fossil fuels, lowers carbon emissions, and promotes sustainable development while creating jobs and boosting local communities. It represents a significant step toward Kenya’s goal of increasing renewable energy sources and reducing environmental impact.
