Lake Nasser
Lake Nasser is one of the world's largest reservoirs, formed by the construction of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River in Egypt and Sudan. It stores water for irrigation, hydroelectric power, and flood control, helping support agriculture and city water supplies in the region. Covering about 5,250 square kilometers, it stretches along the Nile, creating a vast water body behind the dam. Lake Nasser also has archaeological significance, as many ancient Egyptian sites were relocated before flooding. It plays a critical role in regional development, although it also raises environmental and social considerations related to dam construction and water management.
