Laius

Laius is a figure from Greek mythology, best known as the king of Thebes and the father of Oedipus. His story is central to the myth of Oedipus: Laius received a prophecy that he would be murdered by his own son, so he abandoned Oedipus at birth. Despite this, Oedipus later unknowingly fulfilled the prophecy by killing Laius during a dispute, leading to tragic consequences for both.
