Lackawanna Railroad
The Lackawanna Railroad, officially known as the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, was a major American railroad company operating in the northeastern United States from the 19th century until the mid-20th century. It was known for transporting freight and passengers, especially in Pennsylvania and New York, and played a key role in regional economic growth. The railroad contributed to the development of industries like coal mining and manufacturing, and its routes facilitated trade and travel in the metropolitan areas. In 1960, it merged with the Erie Railroad to form the Erie Lackawanna Railway, continuing its legacy in regional rail transportation.
