Lachman Test

The Lachman Test is a clinical assessment used by healthcare providers to check the stability of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. During the test, the patient lies on their back with the knee slightly bent. The healthcare provider gently pulls the tibia (shinbone) forward relative to the femur (thighbone) to see if there is excessive movement or a soft endpoint, which can indicate an ACL tear. The test is a quick, reliable way to evaluate the integrity of the ACL and helps guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.
