Lachish Reliefs
The Lachish Reliefs are a series of ancient stone carvings that depict the Assyrian siege of the city of Lachish, located in modern-day Israel, around 701 BCE. Created by the Assyrian king Sennacherib, these reliefs were found in his palace in Nineveh and illustrate the brutality of war, including the capture of the city and the treatment of its inhabitants. They are significant for understanding Assyrian art, military tactics, and historical interactions with ancient Judean cities. Today, they provide valuable insights into the culture and events of the ancient Near East.
