LABA (Long-acting Beta-agonists)

Long-acting Beta-agonists (LABAs) are medications used to manage asthma and COPD by relaxing the muscles around the airways. This makes it easier to breathe and helps keep symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath under control over longer periods, usually lasting around 12 hours. They are not rescue inhalers for immediate relief but are taken regularly as part of ongoing treatment. LABAs work by stimulating specific receptors in the airway muscles, preventing constriction. When used properly and with other medications like inhaled steroids, they significantly improve lung function and quality of life for individuals with airway limitations.
