La Gran Alianza
La Gran Alianza (The Great Alliance) was a political and military union formed in 1866 between Chile, Peru, and Bolivia during the War of the Pacific. Its purpose was to counter the expansion of Chile, which was seeking control over valuable nitrate-rich territories. The alliance aimed to coordinate military efforts and support each other to resist Chilean advances. While initially effective, the alliance faced challenges due to differing national interests and priorities. Ultimately, the conflict resulted in Chile gaining significant territories, but La Gran Alianza remains an important example of regional cooperation during a complex historical period.
