Kwame Nkrumah was a prominent Ghanaian politician and a key figure in the African independence movement. Born in 1909, he became the first Prime Minister and later the first President of Ghana after it gained independence from British colonial rule in 1957. Nkrumah was a strong advocate for pan-Africanism, promoting unity among African nations and liberation from colonialism. His government focused on industrialization, education, and social reforms, but he faced challenges and criticism leading to his overthrow in 1966. Nkrumah’s legacy remains influential in discussions about African nationalism and development. He passed away in 1972.
