Kwakwaka’wakw Nation
The Kwakwaka’wakw Nation is a group of Indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest of Canada, primarily on Vancouver Island and parts of mainland British Columbia. They have a rich cultural heritage, including elaborate ceremonies, masks, totem poles, and art that express their stories, history, and beliefs. Traditionally, they relied on fishing, particularly salmon, and were known for their complex social structures and oral traditions. Today, the Kwakwaka’wakw continue to preserve and celebrate their language, customs, and sovereignty, playing a vital role in regional Indigenous and Canadian history.
