Kvikksølv
Kvikksølv, or mercury, is a heavy, silvery metal that is liquid at room temperature. It is unique among metals because of its high density and fluid state, allowing it to flow easily. Mercury is used in thermometers, fluorescent lamps, and some electrical switches. However, it is toxic to humans and the environment, as it can accumulate in living organisms and cause health problems. Exposure can happen through inhalation of vapors, ingestion, or skin contact. Due to its hazards, many countries regulate or restrict mercury use and promote safer alternatives.
