Kven people
The Kven people are a Finno-Ugric ethnic minority in northern Norway, primarily descended from Finnish and Karelian migrants who moved there over several centuries. They have their own distinct language, Kven, which is related to Finnish, and cultural traditions rooted in their heritage. Historically, Kvens were involved in fishing, agriculture, and reindeer herding. Recognized as an official minority in Norway since 2005, they work to preserve their language, culture, and history while integrating into Norwegian society. The Kven identity emphasizes their unique linguistic and cultural roots within the broader Nordic context.
