Kuyunjik

Kuyunjik is an ancient archaeological site near the city of Mosul in Iraq, notable for being a major part of the ancient city of Nineveh. It’s best known for housing the ruins of a large palace and the famous Assyrian Empire’s library, which contained thousands of clay tablets inscribed with cuneiform script. These tablets include historical records, royal inscriptions, and literary works like the Epic of Gilgamesh. Excavated in the 19th and 20th centuries, Kuyunjik has provided valuable insights into Assyrian civilization, their culture, history, and achievements.
