Kurt Alder

Kurt Alder was a German chemist renowned for discovering the Diels-Alder reaction, a fundamental chemical process that creates complex ring-shaped molecules. This reaction allows scientists to efficiently build useful compounds, including plastics, fragrances, and pharmaceuticals, by combining simple starting materials in a specific way. His work significantly advanced organic chemistry, making it easier to develop new materials and medicines. In 1950, Alder received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside his colleague named Otto Diels for their groundbreaking discovery.
