Kunduz Airstrike (2015)
The Kunduz Airstrike in 2015 was a military attack carried out by the United States in the Afghan city of Kunduz. It targeted what was believed to be a Taliban compound but mistakenly hit a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres). The airstrike caused significant destruction and resulted in the deaths of around 42 people, including patients, staff, and medical workers. The incident highlighted issues around the accuracy of military targeting, the risks of civilian casualties in conflict zones, and prompted widespread criticism and calls for accountability.
