Kunar Valley
The Kunar Valley is a narrow region in eastern Afghanistan, running along the border with Pakistan’s tribal areas. Known for its rugged terrain and lush landscapes, it has traditionally been inhabited by Pashtun communities. Due to its difficult geography, the valley has been strategic and sometimes contentious, serving as a route for trade, migration, and military activities. Its remote location has made it a focal point in regional security issues and conflicts, especially during the U.S. and NATO military operations. Despite challenges, the valley remains a vital cultural and economic area for local populations.
