Kumihimo

Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese technique of braiding together multiple strands of thread or cord to create decorative and functional cords, often used in jewelry, clothing, and ceremonial objects. Using a special round or square loom called a marudai or takadai, different colored threads are carefully arranged and woven in a pattern by moving them around pegs. This method allows for intricate, evenly textured braids with strong, flexible results. Kumihimo combines craftsmanship and artistry, offering both aesthetic beauty and practical strength in the finished cord.
