Kriegsmarine (Wehrmacht Navy)
The Kriegsmarine was the navy of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1945, part of the Wehrmacht, the unified armed forces. It was responsible for maritime warfare, including submarine (U-boat) campaigns, surface fleet operations, and coastal defense. The Kriegsmarine aimed to challenge Allied naval dominance, protect Germany's maritime interests, and disrupt enemy shipping. It developed advanced submarines and ships, playing a significant role in World War II’s naval battles. After Germany’s defeat, the Kriegsmarine was dissolved, replaced by the post-war German Navy (Bundesmarine).
