Kovno Ghetto

The Kovno Ghetto was a designated area in Kaunas, Lithuania, where Nazi authorities confined Jewish residents during World War II from 1941 to 1944. Created as part of their persecution of Jews, it was a crowded, restrictive environment with limited resources, leading to suffering and hardship. Despite these conditions, many residents organized cultural and religious activities to maintain community and resilience. The ghetto was eventually liquidated, and many inhabitants were deported to death camps. Today, it symbolizes the hardships faced by Lithuanian Jews under Nazi occupation and serves as a reminder of the Holocaust.
