Kosovo Liberation Army

The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was an ethnic Albanian paramilitary organization active in the late 1990s, aiming to gain independence for Kosovo from Serbia. They fought against Serbian forces, which had been suppressing Albanian residents and controlling the region. The conflict involved clashes, violence, and international intervention, notably NATO’s military campaign in 1999. The KLA was considered a terrorist group by some countries but also played a role in the broader movement for Kosovo’s independence. Kosovo eventually declared independence in 2008, a move recognized by many countries, but not all, including Serbia.
