Korean Zen

Korean Zen, or Seon, is a school of Buddhism emphasizing direct experiential insight into one’s true nature through meditation and mindful awareness. It values simplicity, spontaneous understanding, and living fully in the present moment. Practitioners often meditate to quiet the mind, fostering clarity and compassion, and may engage in spontaneous or seemingly simple activities to realize enlightenment beyond intellectual thought. Rooted in Chinese Chan Buddhism and influenced by Korean culture, Seon encourages overcoming dualities and conceptual thinking to attain a profound, non-dual awareness of reality.
