Korean dialects

Korean dialects are regional variations of the Korean language, influenced by geography, history, and local culture. They differ in pronunciation, vocabulary, and some grammar features. Major dialect groups include the Seoul (standard) dialect, spoken in the capital and surrounding areas, and regional dialects like Jeju, Gyeongsang, and Jeolla. While speakers from different regions can generally understand each other, dialects may sound distinct and reveal regional identities. These variations enrich Korean's linguistic diversity but typically do not impede communication within the country.
