Korea War

The Korean War (1950-1953) was a conflict between North Korea, supported by China and the Soviet Union, and South Korea, backed by the United States and UN forces. After World War II, Korea was divided along the 38th parallel, with North Korea becoming communist and South Korea capitalist. In 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea, prompting a military response. The war resulted in significant casualties and destruction, ending with an armistice that restored the border near the original division but without a formal peace treaty. It was part of Cold War tensions over communism and democracy.
