Kora
Kora is a traditional West African musical instrument, often described as a large, complex harp or lute. It typically has 21 strings made from fishing line or nylon, stretched over a gourd body covered with leather. Played by plucking the strings with the thumbs and index fingers, the kora produces a melodic, rich sound. It is used to accompany storytelling, praise singing, and social gatherings, serving as both a musical and cultural symbol. The instrument is associated with the Mandinka people and other ethnic groups in countries like Mali, Senegal, and Gambia.
