Konstantin and Methodius
Konstantin (Constantine) and Methodius were brothers and Christian missionaries in the 9th century who played a vital role in spreading Christianity and literacy among the Slavic peoples. They created the Glagolitic alphabet, the first written script for the Slavic languages, enabling them to translate religious texts and communicate religious ideas effectively. Their work helped establish the cultural and religious identity of many Slavic nations, particularly in Eastern Europe. Recognized as apostles to the Slavs, their efforts significantly contributed to the spread of Christianity and literacy across the region.
