Kongo
Kongo refers to a historic region in Central Africa, roughly corresponding to parts of modern-day Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Republic of Congo. It was once home to the Kingdom of Kongo, a powerful and organized society that thrived from the 14th to the 19th centuries. The Kongo people developed rich cultural traditions, sophisticated art, and engaged in trade. Today, the term also relates to the Kongo language spoken by people in that region, as well as broader cultural and historical identities connected to the area’s legacy.
